For both PPC and SEO, the landing page is crucial. Continuing my comparisons, here are the similarities and differences between SEO and PPC landing pages.
Similarities:
- Need to be completely targeted to whatever keyword or search phrase they were built for
- Need to contain content relevant to the keywords
- Need to balance the business objectives with the search engine "rules"
- Need to track results and ROI, hopefuly down to the keyword level
Differences:
- SEO is much more heavily content based. The design and content is what gets your rankings. With PPC, you can focus much more on the business objectives
- PPC landing pages can be multimedia, interactive and contain whatever bells and whistles you want. SEO landing pages have to be much simpler, in order to be "SEO Friendly". See previous point.
- PPC landing pages and sites can be replicated and private labeled as much as you want. For SEO, you can not have duplicate sites or duplicate content.
That's it for now. Until next time....
