The Importance of the Call Back

By:
Laura Cruz - Topic: Affiliate Marketing - Date: September 19, 2006

I oversee the pending affiliates into CPAEmpire.com. Let me tell you, it takes up a good part of my day. Each application needs to be looked at and put through an approval process. The final step is a call to verify that one, the phone number is valid and two that the number belongs to the individual that signs up.

Often times, I leave a message for the applicant. Understand that I need to hear back from a person before I approve them. This is all part of our approval process. I will normally leave a pending in our system up to a week waiting for a phone call. If I don’t hear back from anyone, I deny the application. Believe me, I’ve denied people I really wish I could get a hold of. But without a confirmation call, I can’t approve the application. In many instances, I will call more than once.

I really wanted to impress upon all future pending affiliates how important that initial call is. I know it might seem like a bother, but without it we don’t have a feel for whom we have coming into our program.

Truthfully, I like the opportunity to talk with all our new affiliates. I have the chance to understand what they do, how they market and most times I hear how affiliate marketing has affected their lives. This also enables me to find the best possible match for affiliate to affiliate manager.

Also, when you apply to an affiliate network, you are starting a partnership with them, hopefully a long term business relationship. A call together is a fantastic way to put a voice to a company. In our industry, with emails and aims, we sometimes loose that personal touch. But it’s still the people that make it all worth while, and of course, the bottom line.
